Air-Purifying House Plants

According to studies conducted at NASA, specific plants have been found to filter out certain toxic gases from the air. The following lists provide examples of the best houseplants to keep.

Formaldehyde: Boston fern, florist's mum, gerbera daisy, dwarf date palm, bamboo palm.

Xylene and Toluene: Areca palm, dwarf date palm, moth orchid.

Ammonia: Lady palm, king of hearts, lily turf.

Some of the best plants for removal of chemical vapors in general include: Areca palm, bamboo palm, rubber plant, english ivy, dwarf date palm, boston fern, kimberly queen, florist's mum, gerbera daisy.
